HOURLY CONSULTATIONS

Psychometric Assessment and Counselling Session

Sometimes, students are not clear about subject choices or career interests. Every child is unique, and a career that might suit one may not be the ideal choice for the other. Gone are the days when we had just a few options and we just went with one of those. With a bewildering range of subject and career choices, what is a 15 or 16 year old to do? Psychometric assessments can help bring about some clarity here. These are scientific, validated tools, which are used to obtain insights about a student’s preferred behaviour, emotional intelligence, interests, skills, aptitude etc.

I conduct the assessment and share the report in a stand-alone counselling session, where I interact with the student and parents. The outcome from the assessment can bring about self-awareness, highlight strengths, showcase aptitude and give focus and direction to the student.

I am a Global Career Counsellor (UCLA Extension and Univariety) and also certified to conduct the MBTI®, MBTI Type II®, Strong® and FIRO® assessments and interest inventories. More than a dozen further assessments are available to choose from, based on what is needed.

Profile Evaluation and Counselling Session

Sometimes, a student may not require the in depth mentoring and admission guidance. For such students to get started, a stand-alone 90 minute session is available, to look at their profile and briefly discuss how they could strengthen it and build their resume around academic pursuits, extra-curricular activities and projects that are aligned to who they are. Community Service, Internships, Research opportunities and so on are various components which, when pieced together, present a picture of the student. This picture must show the student in the best possible light, and be authentic, so final college admissions are based on true fit.

Other Stand-alone sessions

This is suitable for students who are comfortable to work independently, but would like to check in now and then for some guidance.. Sessions may be scheduled at the student’s discretion and could be around any aspect of the high school and admissions journey. They typically revolve around:

  • Understanding the admission process and what is needed to be done
  • Planning a schedule of activities and standardised testing
  • Developing their college lists
  • Getting inputs to draft compelling essays
  • Preparing for admissions interviews
  • Post submission support for updates
  • Advise on communicating with colleges in case of deferral
  • Final college selection
